How I beat IBS twice

Life stories often involve facing and overcoming difficulties.

I have been blessed in my life, but a major struggle has been keeping my body, mind and gut in balance to avoid physical and emotional suffering.

Our challenges and handicaps in life are our opportunities to grow and know ourselves better.

IBS is the perfect instigator of positive change. I believe IBS is a lifestyle disease. It’s caused by the unhealthy ways our sensitive guts interacts with the modern world.

Our toxic diet, never slowing down, trying to live up to unrealistic expectations, living out of sync with who we really are, anxiety, overwhelm and non stop pressure all contribute to gut dysfunction.

IBS helps us build confidence in our ability to care for ourselves and face fears and challenges in healthy ways. IBS forces us to get to know ourselves and make needed changes. Those changes are different for everyone.

On the other side of IBS is more peace and wisdom than you can imagine. On the other side is an upgraded life. And it is totally possible to get there, I have twice!

Each time I learned very different lessons. Insights into what’s important to me, how I’ve been neglecting who I am and how to better care for myself.

There is an IBS personality that offers a great place to start in terms of examining what’s not working for your body and life.

These personality traits are high sensitivity (referring to the nervous system), anxiety and perfectionism.

The combination of personality traits listed above have a huge influence on the function of our gut. Working with one or all three of these traits will produce some amazing results, yet no one is talking about this in the digestive health space.

It’s the missing piece and my secret to my rapid and successful recovery.

If you want to know more about working with these traits, listen to a podcast I recorded about it here.

From my last brush with IBS I learned that I have a highly empathic nature, and need to protect myself to stay healthy while supporting others with gut issues. There were other lessons about letting go of toxic expectations. It was a valuable experience that brought so much growth, peace and stability to my life.

When we listen to the stories of others, we recognize ourselves in their experiences. As you listen to this podcast about my story of overcoming IBS twice, notice which parts resonate with you. This is a great clue as to what you should focus on.

All the answers are already inside, you just need a bit of help accessing your own wisdom and intuition.
