Mitochondria, detox and IBS

If you’ve had reactions to a supplement protocol intended to kill bad bugs, opening detox and drainage pathways can prevent or ease those die off symptoms.

Open detox pathways will make the supplement protocol more comfortable, but supporting mitochondria will make it more effective. The role of mitochondria in gut health is not often discussed.

Understanding how to support mitochondrial function and open detox pathways can prepare your body for a much smoother healing road.

Instead of repeating protocols for SIBO, h. pylori, yeast or parasites, set the body up to make the protocols successful. Addressing mitochondrial health can make a big difference.

Mitochondria dictates how much energy you produce in your cells. Without enough cellular energy, your body can’t detox, repair or heal.

I understand the impatience to get your health and life back, but jumping into a supplement protocol when your body is not ready will slow everything down and create frustration or uncomfortable reactions.

To speed up healing you have to create the right conditions for healing in the body. Here’s how to support mitochondria….

What is mitochondria?

Mitochondria are membrane-bound cells that produce the energy necessary for the cell’s survival and functioning. Chemical energy produced by the mitochondria is stored in a small molecule called adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Through a series of chemical reactions, mitochondria break down glucose into ATP.

If your cells are depleted of energy, they can’t do their jobs well.

Mitochondria need minerals to function properly as they are essential cofactors for mitochondrial physiology and overall cellular health. Mitochondria is also affected by our circadian rhythm.

Diets that are low in minerals, stress that depletes minerals and disruption in sleep, regular meal time and travel (especially through time zones) can disrupt mitochondria. The mitochondria suffers also from lack of sunlight and too much exposure to blue light (cell phones, TV, computer screens) at night.

Mineral depletion, an erratic schedule, lack of sun light and night shift work can stress the mitochondria.

The microbiome and mitochondria talk to each other.

Mitochondria live in the intestine’s epithelial cells, mucosal cells, immune cells, and even neural cells. Unhealthy mitochondria and dysfunctional communication with the biome, drives inflammation and mood issues, among other symptoms.

Fatigue can also be caused by mitochondrial distress.

If your mitochondria are low on energy, healing will be a low priority for your body. Your energy will go to getting you through your day (survival).

I started offering hair tissue mineral analysis testing in my health coaching practice because it measures mitochondrial health by measuring the minerals that support it. The four basic minerals needed for strong mitochondrial health and energy are magnesium, calcium, potassium and sodium.

This shows me if my client is even ready for a gut-healing protocol. Or if there needs to be work done first.

The HTMA tests was instrumental in my own healing, and I am very happy to offer it now to my clients who have tried many things without success.

A general protocol for mitochondria

For those who are unable to do hair testing because they dye their hair regularly, (you have to go 4 to 6 weeks between hair coloring to take the test) there’s a general mitochondrial support protocol from my favorite supplement company, Cellcore.

This is a month-long prep program that will start to support your body’s cellular energy function and open detox pathways. It is a good way to prepare the body to win the battle against gut bugs that cause gut symptoms.

Month-long Phase 1 protocol

Cellcore’s phase 1 protocol is designed to help remineralize the body, break down biofilms, support the liver and lymph and nourish mitochondria.

Cellcore is a U.S.-based company but ships supplements all over the world.

Cellcore’s products contain humic and fulvic acids, which both remineralize but support detox.

Minerals, heavy metals and toxins compete for space inside of our cells. By adding more minerals to your body, the toxins and metals are pushed out slowly and naturally. This is a gentle cellular detox strategy. One that nourishes your cells, instead of depleting them.

If you’ve been sick for longer than 6 months, or react badly to antimicrobial herbs, balancing minerals, supporting mitochondria and opening up detox pathways is very important for smoother healing.

It can improve the speed and chances of protocol success, which boost confidence and comfort during the process.

How to do the Phase 1 Protocol

To buy anything from Cellcore you have to open an account. And need this code: HvdcBkCj to open one up. To open a Cellcore account you can go here and use this code.

Cellcore is my number one choice for clearing parasites because it is strong and has detox support. I have been using their parasite protocol with clients for years. I always suggest being monitored by a health practitioner while doing any herbal protocol. Especially a strong one. I used Cellcore’s protocol twice on myself to get rid of parasites.

Phase 1 mitochondrial support and detox protocol:

KL Support (kidney and liver support) unclogs drainage pathways and breaks down biofilm that protects pathogens from immune attack.

CT-minerals help remineralize the body and pushes toxins and metals out of cells. Through remineralization it can improve mental clarity, immune function and cellular repair.

BC-ATP improves mitochondrial function, by assisting the body with ATP production.

Biotoxin binder escorts toxins out of the body. Most binders also bind to and remover beneficial minerals, but biotoxin binder only grabs onto and removes toxins, mycotoxins/mold or metals. Unlike other binders, it can be taken with food.

How to take the supplements

The supplements can be taken with or without food. The protocol is for one month and uses one bottle of each: KL support, BC-ATP, CT-minerals and Biotoxin binder

After one month, you continue taking the CT-Minerala and Biotoxin binder as you begin your gut healing protocol.

Supporting your minerals can raise energy levels, calm the nervous system and boost cell function. Mineral and mitochondrial support is often overlooked by most naturopath or functional medicine practitioners who are not trained in mitochondrial health.

I’m passionate about educating people about mineral and mitochondrial support because it’s what resolved my digestive issues 20 years ago. Because I worked deeply, at a cellular level, my healing was deep and complete and I’ve been able to maintain it for two decades.

Mineral balancing and mitochondria are become a more common part of the conversation about digestive health. When we better understand our body at the deepest cellular levels we can give them what they need to heal and thrive.

Understanding detox, mitochondria and minerals speeds up the healing process. I teach clients how to support all of these inside my four month gut-healing program.
